Centaur Theatre Presents

STONE AND BONE SPECTACULAR

Written by Ange Loft

in Collaboration with Barbara Kaneratonni Diabo and Iehente Foote

Directed by Ange Loft

With Barbara Kaneratonni Diabo, Iehente Foote, Wahsontí:io Kirby, Véronik Picard, Iota’keratenion Thomas-Beaton and Dylan Thomas-Bouchier

Stone and Bone Spectacular is a vibrant, innovative theatrical experience that brings a bold and entertaining perspective to the history of Tiohtià:ke, also known as Montreal, through a uniquely Kanien’kehá:ka lens. Written and directed by acclaimed interdisciplinary artist Ange Loft and created in collaboration with choreographer Barbara Kaneratonni Diabo and performer Iehente Foote, this world-premiere production will be presented at Centaur Theatre from October 15 to October 26, 2025, as the culmination of Centaur’s inaugural Indigenous Artist Residency.

Based on community contributions with fictional elements penned by Loft, Stone and Bone Spectacular blends rich oral narratives with old Kahnawà:ke showmanship. Follow Ramrock as his mind wanders, making his way back to his lover, Two Dogs, as she’s moved around the island—a romance, brought back to memory, after construction awakens ancient connections. Alternately caring and chilling, glorious and gory, the characters spin stories they’d been told about the early history of the island, the land Centaur occupies, and the Indigenous peoples who have called it home for centuries. Tales—of missing men, shifting regimes, and shrinking territory—are cut short, trail off, locked up, but not forgotten. With a blend of archaeology, found pottery and policy, stories are unearthed, and the foundation of the theatre is shaken with song, waltz, puppets, and salacious detail.

Stone and Bone Spectacular is a one-of-a-kind theatrical event that reimagines the way we tell history, deeply rooted in Kanien’kehá:ka identity. This exciting new work promises to be a captivating excavation, told in a truly spectacular fashion.
