Dear Friend of Centaur,
Let me begin by thanking you for your continued support of live theatre here in Montreal. Theatre, perhaps unlike any other art form, depends entirely on its audience to exist. You are our raison d’être, our scene partner, our beating heart. It has been a joy to welcome you back into our newly renovated theatre this year and to carry Centaur Theatre’s rich cultural legacy forward together, ensuring a vibrant future for theatre in this city we all love.
As we complete the final phase of C2’s transformation, our focus has turned fully back to the work on stage. The 2026/27 season we have built reflects Centaur’s core mission: putting great stories in the spotlight. This is a season rooted in theatricality—bold, moving, and deeply human—where classic works are reimagined through a contemporary lens, and where the shared experience of live performance takes centre stage.
For the first time since the pandemic and our two-and-a-half-year renovation, we are proud to offer a full five-play subscription series—our most ambitious season in over six years. It is a defining moment for Centaur, and one we are thrilled to share with you.
This season also marks an important step forward in accessibility, with adult and senior subscription prices reduced by more than 10%. This deliberate shift reflects our belief that gathering to experience high-quality professional theatre should be as accessible as it is unique and extraordinary.
The artists and stories you will encounter this season speak to the vitality and variety of the theatrical form, from the singular imagination of puppetmaster Ronnie Burkett to the powerful writing of Colleen Murphy and the extraordinary talent of beloved Montreal performers like Amelia Sargisson and Brian Dooley. From the awe of ancient Greek epics to the nuance of 20th-century Irish modernism and the cutting edge of First Nations comedy, this is a season designed to engage, entertain, and resonate.
Your support remains at the heart of what makes this possible. It helps sustain ambitious, high-calibre work and affirms a shared belief in the power of live theatre to bring us together, to move us, and to remind us of our connection to one another.
We look forward to welcoming you for the 2026/27 season and to sharing great stories in the spotlight.
Warmly,
Eda Holmes
