For more than 50 years, Centaur Theatre has been a second home for tens of thousands of patrons, supporters, artists, and technicians from Montreal’s English-Language theatre community. Today we invite you to join our community and help us write the next chapter of Centaur’s story.
Due to the rising cost of inflation and decreased allotments from federal and provincial funding sources, we are at a crucial juncture in our history where donations matter more than ever. As a member of our Director’s Circle of donors, your support is paramount in helping us fulfill our mission and continue serving as Montreal’s home for Anglophone theatre for the years and decades to come.
Our Season: Coming Home to Centaur
This year, our mainstage plays embrace the power of family and connection, all while exploring the rich tapestry of Quebec’s cultural landscape. From Harry Standjofski’s Sakura, a sharp adaptation of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, to Michel Tremblay’s poignant tribute to his mother, For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again, our lineup sheds light on the bonds that tie us together even in times of division. Our Centaur+ programming aims to further strengthen our community by showcasing works that support the independent theatre scene in English Montreal.
Our commitment to accessibility, diversity, and inclusion
Through our Theatre of Tomorrow program, thousands of high-school students enjoy discounted tickets, talkbacks, and educational workbooks that foster engagement and critical thinking. Mainstage productions offer French surtitles, pay-what-you-can and student rush tickets make theatre barrier-free, and our universal access wheelchair lift ensures that Centaur is a welcoming space for all patrons.
Make a Lasting Impact
Whether you choose to make a one-time gift, set up monthly giving, donate in honour of a loved one, or stocks or other securities, your tax-deductible donation of any amount will keep Centaur on course. For a first major donation ($5,000 – $25,000), Revenue Quebec offers an extra 25% tax credit in addition to the usual credit for charitable donations.
