CENTAUR+ FAMILY CLASSES
Step into the spotlight together!
This fall, Centaur Theatre invites children and their parents/caregivers to make theatre, explore backstage, and unleash their imaginations together.
Led by professional theatre artists and educators Alison Darcy and Jesse Stong, Centaur+ Family Classes are playful, hands-on workshops where families can discover storytelling, movement, improvisation, character creation and the joy of making something together.
No theatre experience necessary. Just bring your imagination!

Over six Saturday workshops at Centaur, children and their parents/caregivers will play, create and experiment together. Participants will explore the theatre from the inside out—including our stage, dressing rooms, costumes, props and backstage spaces—and discover how professional theatre comes to life.
Whether your child has never been onstage before or already loves performing, these workshops are designed to be welcoming, creative and fun for everyone.
Choose your age group
A playful introduction to theatre through ensemble games, storytelling, movement, improvisation and creative exploration.
A deeper dive into theatre-making, with opportunities to develop original scenes and stories through writing, improvisation, rehearsal and performance.
What will we do?
Each workshop will be different, but expect lots of:
Theatre games
Build confidence, collaboration and imagination through playful ensemble activities.
Storytelling & improvisation
Invent characters, create stories and see where your ideas take you.
Movement & performance
Explore how our bodies, voices and imaginations can bring a story to life.
Behind-the-scenes discovery
Go backstage and explore the spaces, costumes and props that make theatre happen.
Creative collaboration
Work side-by-side with your child—and with other families—to create something completely your own.
And then… take the stage!
The program will culminate in a cabaret-style community showcase at Centaur, giving families the opportunity to share some of what they’ve created with friends and loved ones.
Participation in the showcase is optional—but we think it will be pretty special.
PROGRAM DETAILS & SCHEDULE
Fall 2026: 6 Saturday workshops + a culminating community showcase on SUNDAY, December 13 (over a total of 9 weeks, from October 17, 2026 to December 13, 2026)
Location: Centaur Theatre, 453 Rue Saint-François-Xavier, Old Montreal
Registration
$245 per family for all 7 sessions.
This includes one child and one parent/caregiver, with six workshops plus our culminating community showcase.
Need to bring more than one child? Additional children are just $35 each for the full program.
