Laurence Dauphinais & Antoine Yared

Laurence Dauphinais is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada’s acting program, and works in multidisciplinary creation as an actor, author, director and musician. After premiering at the Festival Trans Amériques, Laurence’s solo piece Siri has toured internationally to cities such as Rio De Janeiro, Edinburgh and Dublin. After co-directing iShow, a performative theatre piece that toured Europe for a couple years, she’s recently co-written and directed Aalaapi at the Theatre Centre du théâtre d’aujourd’hui (CTDA).  The piece marked her first solo direction, won the Playwrights prize at CTDA last year and is now embarking on a national and international tour.  Laurence is currently dedicating her time to her new co-creation with Maxime Carbonneau; In the cloud, their next project inspired by AI, as well as her new play Cyclorama, show that she’s writing, directing and acting in and that will premiere next fall. 

Laurence is the recipient of a Gemini Award for her performance in the TV5’s Listen To This Story and has two active music projects: Darrick and A Gringa.

Born in Lebanon, Antoine grew up in Montreal and got his first taste of Shakespearean acting when he had the pleasure of performing with Repercussion Theatre. In 2012, his love of Shakespeare prompted a move to Stratford, Ontario, where he regularly appeared on the festival stage. During his five years in Stratford, Antoine had the chance to spread his wings in such classics as Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Pericles, King John, The Merchant of Venice, John Gabriel Borkman, The Alchemist, The Madwoman of Chaillot and Mother Courage.

Antoine’s taste for adventure then spurred him to seize the opportunity of appearing in Groundling Theatre’s production of King Lear in Toronto, before accepting a role in The Last Wife at Montreal’s Centaur Theatre, thus marking his return home after a seven-year absence. More recently, he was employed south of the border at Washington DC’s Arena Stage in A Thousand Splendid Suns – a role he reprised a few months later when the production toured San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle. His US sojourn concluded with an appearance in Indecent at the Seattle Rep, after which he wrapped up the year with the classic A Christmas Carol for Soulpepper in Toronto.
