A Message from Artistic Director Eda Holmes
We are calling the 2023-24 season Building the Future @ Centaur because we will be under construction in more ways than one. We will be launching the first phase of a major renovation project as well as offering some exciting new initiatives through our subscription series. It is all designed to give as many voices as possible a place to be heard in the present and the future in our beautiful building in the heart of Old Montreal.
We have already begun to “raise the roof” as we add a state-of-the art fly tower over C2 (our larger theatre), bringing this space into the 21st century and allowing us to produce theatre more creatively and more efficiently.
While this exciting metamorphosis is taking place in C2, across the hall in C1 we are presenting a richly entertaining and thought-provoking playbill that celebrates gathering together to look at the world we live in with honesty, humour, and compassion. In addition, we have created a new initiative to give theatregoers a unique way to experience plays at Centaur; we are calling it the Centaur Play Club – like a book club, only better! As ever, Brave New Looks and Wildside will round out another not-to-be-missed year at Centaur Theatre.
This coming season is driven by the idea that theatre is most powerful when it lays the groundwork for a robust and engaged community. We invite you to join us as we gather together to build the future at Centaur.
