FOUNDATIONS

Join over a hundred progressive organizations who provide crucial financial support to Centaur Theatre and who enjoy the benefits of collaboration with Quebec’s flagship English-language theatre company.

A Montreal institution for almost 50 years, Centaur welcomes over 50,000 audience members annually into our Old Montreal home, the former location of Canada’s first Stock Exchange. Each season, we present over 250 performances on our stages. We are known for nurturing Montreal artists and for collaborating with them to create award-winning productions such as Balconville, Schwartz’s: The Musical, and The St. Leonard Chronicles.

In addition, we offer affordable theatre in English to young families, students, and people who otherwise would not have access through our Community Outreach, Theatre of Tomorrow, and Saturday Morning Children’s Series programs. More than 7,000 young audiences enjoyed Centaur’s productions in the last year alone. Our audiences also include a large number of francophone youth studying English as a second language.

Despite healthy ticket sales, box office revenue accounts for only 42% of our expenses and government grants for only 29%. In order to fund all our programs, keep ticket prices affordable, and maintain our heritage building, approximately one quarter of our budget depends on community support. As Centaur is a registered not-for-profit organization, your foundation’s gift is tax-deductible.

Through the gift of theatre, stand tall with us to celebrate the diversity and rich legacy of Montreal and Canada this special year, with your foundation’s name recognized as a proud supporter!
